Education Reform

Too Many Children and Young People are Being Badly Let Down

Reform UK wants an education system that ensures young people are proud of Britain and learn the skills, character and values to succeed in life.

CRITICAL REFORMS NEEDED IN THE FIRST 100 DAYS:

A Patriotic Curriculum in Primary and Secondary Schools

To maintain balance, every lesson pertaining to a time or instance of slavery or imperialism by the British or European powers must be combined with a lesson regarding a non-European instance of the same. To maintain balance, the social science and history curricula should be routinely evaluated and audited. We need to teach our kids about their heritage.

Ban Transgender Ideology in Primary and Secondary Schools

No pronoun switching, social transformation, or gender questioning. Talk to parents of minors under 16 about the choices their kids make in life. There must be single-sex facilities in schools.

Tax relief of 20% on all Independent Education

VAT is not applied to fees. We ought to provide parents with incentives to select independent schools if they are able to pay a little bit extra. This will greatly reduce the burden on public schools and raise standards of instruction for everybody.

Scrap Interest on Student Loans

Increase the duration of loan capital payback to 45 years. Limit the number of undergraduates by far below the present levels; too many courses are of poor quality, and students are being defrauded. Set basic requirements for admission.

Thereafter:

Cut Funding to Universities that Undermine Free Speech

The Free Speech Act of the government is worthless. Encouraging political bias or cancel culture should result in severe financial consequences.

Permanent Exclusions for Violent and Disruptive Students

In order to ensure the safe operation of schools, we will treble the quantity of Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). We’ll also see to it that PRUs adopt best practices.

Universities Must Provide 2-Year Undergraduate Courses

Two-year study options would lower student loan burden and enable earlier career entrance to assist with repayment.
